Welcome to YMCA Camp Reed!

About

The Mission of YMCA Camp Reed

Our mission is to enhance personal growth, Christian values, and a sense of community in a safe wilderness setting. Through active participation in unique challenges and new relationships, Camp Reed transforms ideals into lasting behaviors. We embrace and teach the YMCA’s core values of respect, honesty, responsibility, and caring.

Accreditation

We are proud to have YMCA Camp Reed accredited by the American Camp Association, which means that we care enough to undergo a thorough (up to 300 standards) review of our operation, a comprehensively process covering everything from staff qualifications and training to emergency management.

American Camp Association collaborates with experts from the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Red Cross, and other youth-serving agencies to assure that current practices at our camp reflect the most up-to-date, research-based standards in camp operation. Camps and ACA form a partnership that promotes growth and fun in an environment committed to safety.

Counselor in Training

Co-ed, entering grade 10 in fall of 2018.

Register

The Counselor in Training (CIT) program represents the next step in teen leadership at YMCA Camp Reed. Over the course of two weeks, teens build their leadership skills through active team building, group learning, community building, and service. Designed for youth entering grade 10, the CIT program incorporates one week at camp, and one week out of camp on a 200+ mile unforgettable bike trip.

Junior Counselors

Co-ed, entering grades 11-12 in fall of 2018

Take the first step towards becoming a cabin counselor! Participants focus on service, leadership skills and counseling techniques while spending one week at camp. Junior Counselors begin with a training weekend in the spring (highly recommended, but not mandatory) and then are assigned to a cabin of campers for a week as they develop new skills, build strong relationships, and have an incredible camp experience. JC volunteerism does not guarantee a future counselor position. Additional weeks are often assigned if requested.
